Dear Book Diary
Hello Class!! This website will give you some insights into who I am as a Reader and the books that I love. This will hopefully give you some ideas of books you will want to read!

Dear Book Diary is a website that I created as an assignment for one of my classes in college, but this website is ultimately a source for you (my students) and your parents. I think that finding out what people love to read offers an insight to people that you don't often see. Hopefully, this website will give you not only an insight into who I am as a Reader and a Teacher, but also give you some suggestions as to some great books to read, no matter your age.
One of my favorite things to do in my free time is read. I have been taught as a young child to love reading. I get this from my mother who would read to my brother and I all the time, take us to the library once a week, and enrole us in programs to read for prizes like Six Flags tickets and Summer Reading Programs at the library. I loved to read so much that I never left the house without a book, I still don't thanks to apps like iBooks and Kindle.
I would read any book I could get my hand on. I definitely went through phases of types of books I liked. First, I loved the A to Z Mysteries series in third grade which then graduated into Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys. I read all the originals and the reboots of both series. I also went through a Peter Pan phase where I read everything from Peter Pan to Scarlet Peter Pan to Peter and the Starcatchers to fairy books. I also read a lot of Greek and Roman mythology books after falling in love with the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Even today, I like the genres of mystery and fantasy the best with some of my favorites books and series written by Agatha Christie and Quinn Loftis.
As to where and when I read, I can read anywhere, anytime, but I prefer somewhere comfortable where I can curl up at the end of a busy day. A chair, couch, or bed is my preference, but I can and will read anywhere. My favorite spot to read is on my big leather chair at home though. I can curl up like the girl in the bookworm picture or recline to relax after a long day. I like this chair the best because it is comfortable, and I can still be with my family without being distracted from reading. I would recommend finding a place like that where you are most comfortable reading.
Now back to the purpose of this website, some of the books on here are my favorite books that I've read, or had read to me, as a child. And others are books I've discovered from friends, colleagues, and professor recommendations. The last thing to mention is that I LOVE to talk about these books! Don't hesitate to tell me what you think about these books, want recommendations for more books, or talk about your favorite books (I love recommendations too). Have fun exploring the wonderful world of reading in my Book Diary!!
